Home upgrades that are a waste of money, according to HGTV star David Bromstad
A brick fireplace in the corner of the room can be a nice feature for some, but others don’t like it. In the episode “Goats Must Love,” David Bromstad says he likes to keep feature fireplaces in the room (via Realtor.com). Describing the unique curved design of the living room accent piece, he said, “I don’t know about you, but I think it’s very interesting. It’s very whimsical, which I love.” It may be a little dated, but it works for the space.
There are a few things to consider when deciding whether to keep or remove a fireplace. If the fire doesn’t work or is unsafe, the average cost to fix it is likely to range from $200 to $1,000, Fixr notes. This is usually very affordable, which means you can turn it into a nice feature at home. If you really don’t like it, you might be tempted to use drywall over it or even paint it. These are options, but brick can still be a beautiful dimensional element that adds to any space.
