Louis – The Missouri Valley Conference released a pre-tournament poll ahead of this weekend’s MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet that sees Illinois’ women pick first and the Redbird men see a second-place pick among the league’s twelve (women’s) and ten league picks. In the men’s poll, Indiana was selected to finish first with 96 total points. Right behind Sycamores is Illinois State, with 87 points. The Redbird men have finished second in each of the last four MVC Outdoor Championships.

In the women’s poll, Illinois State is the pre-tournament favorite, scoring 144 (of 144) points. Illinois women’s have won four straight outdoor MVC titles, dating back to the 2019 outdoor campaign.

In order to qualify for the NCAA Western Preliminary Round, you must rank among the Top 48 student-athletes in your event in the West Region. Currently, 15 Redbird student-athletes qualify with more on the cusp.
